Most people like to know a little bit about somebody before they consult them for ANY services; Real Estate is no exception. I was born in April of 1980 and grew up in the small town of Arcade, Ny. zip 14009 - which to my knowlege National Geographic still has not done an info blurb about in their magazine, although they have done some pretty out of the way zips. Arcade is about 40 miles South of Buffalo, NY - SNOW COUNTRY! After graduating High school as a member of the National Honor Society I enlisted in the Marines for a term of 5 years and became a Cryogenics technician. During my Active service years I traveled everywhere from California, Spain, Kuwait, Australia, Thailand, and even spent a few days on Wake Island!! During my service time I also managed to find time to attend college classes at night; I attended classes in Ca. at a community college in San Diego and then in Japan took more classes from UMUC (University of Maryland University College) where I discovered I have an apptitude for business and business management. This discovery helped spur my eventual decision to go into business for myself at the ripe 'ol age of 23. I came to York County, Pa. following an honorable discharge from the Marines and began my Real Estate career. I chose York County because my roots run deep here. My father, Harry (Maynard) Parlett was born in a cabin at Shenks Ferry and my Mother Treva Heffner-Parlett grew up in Bittersville. Chances are, unless you are from York County or have been in the York area for quite some time you have never even heard of these places. They are your basic small dots on a map that only the locals seem to know about. I have a lot of relatives in the York areas of Red Lion, Dallastown, Craley, Wrightsville, Brogue, Airville, Felton and other parts of Pa. I officially began practicing Real Estate in Nov 2003 (not the best time of year for home sales with all the holidays and being in the middle of the school year!) I patiently continued and by spring was doing more business than I had dared to hope for in my first year. I met my first non-family clients at an open house, their names are Scott and Ursula Clayborne and they liked me well enough to use me for 2 purchase transactions and since then have become good friends of mine! My past and present clients can attest to the fact that I have built a strong business based on Customer Service, which seems to be a lost courtesy that was once the number one priority of every good business whether large or small. And the saga continues.... This year I am well on track to having my best year in Real Estate and because I am doing so well, Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA even asked me to begin training members of the office who are new to the Real Estate world.
